CATS received an award in December from the Alexander Eastman Foundation to support efforts that will positively impact teen attitudes and behaviors related to risk taking while driving.
The project will provide information and education to youth and families related to safe driving habits, intended to reduce the chance of death or injury to themselves and others. CATS will engage youth and community in efforts to increase awareness of the importance of seat belt use and driving without distraction, create a greater awareness of the laws pertaining to teen drivers, and to foster a culture of driving safety among Derry teens and the spirit of peer-to-peer reinforcement of safe practices as well as establish advocacy across age groups. The project will benefit from the expertise and resources of local and state partners in traffic and driving safety. Community will be invited to participate and support the project as it evolves.
